MyCAA and Cardinal Institute for Health Career (CIHC)

Cardinal Institute for Health Careers #CIHC is officially a MyCAA approved school and eligible students can use a MyCAA (Military Spouse Career Advancement Account) scholarship for their courses at CIHC.

The MyCAA Fast Facts pdf provided online states:

“My Career Advancement Account Scholarship — Helping Spouses Reach Career Goals The My Career Advancement Account Scholarship is a workforce development program that provides up to $4,000 of tuition assistance to eligible military spouses. The scholarship assists military spouses in pursuing licenses, certificates, certifications or associate degrees necessary to gain employment in high-demand, high-growth portable career fields and occupations. Spouses may use their My Career Advancement Account Scholarship funds at any academic institution approved for participation in the scholarship.”[1]

Current statistics show 1 in 4 military spouses are unemployed and looking for work; while approximately 1.2 million are eligible for the scholarship. Yet, in a report summary by Rand Corporation entitled “Advancing the Careers of Military Spouses: An Assessment of Education and Employment Goals and Barriers Facing Military Spouse Eligible for MyCAA” it is stated, “54 percent (of eligible military spouses) reported that they were unaware of the program.”

There are some specific eligibility requirements for the MyCAA scholarship to include the following from the MyCAA Fast Facts pdf:

“Spouses of service members on active duty in pay grades E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2 and O-1 to O-2 who have successfully completed high school and have the ability to request tuition assistance while their military sponsor is on Title 10 military orders are eligible. Spouses married to members of the National Guard and reserves in these same pay grades are eligible.”[2]

As an approved school, eligible students can request MyCAA scholarships to attend the current courses at CIHC:

· Nurse Aide

· Personal Aide

Medication Aide will be added in the near future.
